Join us for GORWEL, a new event series spotlighting trans+* creatives in Cardiff.

GORWEL, delivered in partnership by Lone Worlds and Creative Cardiff, is an open and welcoming space for trans artists, creatives, and allies to connect, skill-share, and celebrate creative expression in all its forms. Hosted at Tramshed Tech (The Station Room), this initiative will feature inspiring talks, networking opportunities over coffee, tea, and cake, and hands-on workshops led by a trans+ creative.

Whether you're a creative yourself, want to learn more about trans experiences in the arts, or simply want to be part of an inclusive and uplifting space—this event is for you.

Featuring:

March: Neo Ukandu 🎼 – A boundary-pushing singer-songwriter and producer known for their experimental soundscapes and dancefloor-ready electropop. Neo is deeply invested in building community and providing skill-sharing opportunities for queer and BIPOC creatives through music and art.

April: Christian Hey 🎭 – A visionary opera director dedicated to breaking barriers in the classical music world. Christian actively advocates for trans representation in opera and has contributed to projects with major arts institutions, including The Royal Opera House and Welsh National Opera.

May: Alia Ramna 💃 – A ballroom fem queen, activist, and co-founder of Asian Purrrrsuasion. As the Welsh Princess of the Welsh Ballroom Community, Alia brings queer joy and visibility to Cardiff, celebrating the powerful history of Ballroom culture and trans expression.

What to expect:

✨ A thought-provoking talk from each featured creative.
☕ A relaxed networking session over tea, coffee, and cake.
🎨 A creative workshop/skill-share led by one of the artists.

Come along, meet like-minded people, and be part of a growing creative movement that champions trans voices and talent.

*Trans+ is linked to Transgender. Transgender can mean people who are transitioning (typically a binary perspective, MTF – male to female – or FTM), or can mean the umbrella term covering everyone who identifies as non-cisgender.
