Chuck Prophet & His Cumbia Shoes

April 14, 2025: California singer, songwriter, guitarist, and producer Chuck Prophet new collaborative album with Cumbia group ¿Qiensave? called Wake The Dead, released on Yep Roc Records has been his most successful album in over 20 years. An extraordinary and unlikely pairing, Prophet and ¿Qiensave? blend seamlessly together as the collection dives headfirst into the world of Cumbia music, which consumed and comforted Prophet during a recent bout with stage four lymphoma and subsequent recovery. Chuck’s recent UK and EU tours have seen over 15 shows sold out and his biggest ever audiences here toping the US Americana chart tor two weeks. Chuck joined by both members of ¿Qiensave? and James DePrato and Vicente Rodriguez from his band the Mission Express to form Chuck Prophet & His Cumbia Shoes. In support of today’s announcement, they shared the album’s lead single and title track “Wake The Dead,” an anthem that reckons with forces beyond our control while learning to let go, a recurring theme at the core of the album.
