Boom Group is looking for an outstanding Head of Production to join its talented team of programme and content makers.

About Boom:
Boom is one of Wales’s largest production groups, and a trusted, multi-genre company that produces over 400 hours of content annually for a variety of broadcasters, including S4C, BBC, ITV, C4, C5 and UKTV.  Through its television and digital production divisions - Boom Cymru, Boom, Boom Social and Boom Kids - the Boom Group has an impressive track record in producing award-winning factual, factual-entertainment, entertainment, drama and children’s content, and its productions are characterised by a commitment to exceptional storytelling and the highest production values.

A part of ITV Studios, Boom Group employs approximately 150 staff in Wales, and includes leading Welsh post-production and VFX facility, Gorilla, and Motion Graphics company, BAIT Studio.

The Role:
This role requires a demonstrable ability to set up production teams for success and nurture and support them throughout the production and post-production process.  The successful candidate will possess the required knowledge and experience to devise viable production plans for Boom’s slate of content across a variety of genres for numerous broadcasters and platforms. Cost controlling, strong management of production and post-production workflows, and outstanding leadership and interpersonal skills are essential to this prominent role.

Based in Boom’s Cardiff Bay offices, the position will require the following:

  • Wide ranging production experience across multiple genres and digital platforms.
  • Experience of creating and managing budgets and maximising efficiencies.
  • Strong and fair negotiating skills.
  • An ability to devise innovative production methods and deliver value for money.
  • Experience of resourcing and managing production teams and supporting personnel across the wider company.
  • Strong communication and inclusive leadership skills.
  • Detailed knowledge of programme compliance, contracts, welfare, duty of care and health and safety.
  • The ability to, and experience of contributing to the wider management and day-to-day running of a large company.
  • Attention to detail, diplomacy and positivity.
  • The ability to delegate successfully.
  • A commitment to nurturing a positive, diverse and inclusive workplace culture.

The ability to communicate through the medium of Welsh would be desirable for this role.
