NMGW Enterprises Ltd Trading Activity Background

 

In 2003 Amgueddfa Cymru – National Museum Wales established a trading arm called National Museum and Galleries of Wales Enterprises Limited. The Board of this company comprises of members of Amgueddfa Cymru’s Board of Trustees, members of Amgueddfa Cymru Directorate and non-executive Directors with particular commercial experience.

 

The current Scope of the trading activity includes the management of:

The Museum Gift Shops at:

a.     National Museum Cardiff

b.     St Fagans National Museum of History

c.      The National Roman Legion Museum

d.     The National Slate Museum

e.     Big Pit National Coal Museum

f.       The National Wool Museum

g.     The National Waterfront Museum

 

·       E-commerce and mail order operate centrally from National Museum Cardiff

 

·       Car parking fees at National Museum Cardiff, St Fagans National Museum of History and Big Pit National Coal Museum.

 

·       Image Licensing, operated centrally from National Museum Cardiff

 

·       Provision of private events and functions, primarily at National Museum Cardiff, St Fagans National Museum of History and National Waterfront Museum.

 

·       Franchised public catering facilities at National Museum Cardiff, St Fagans National Museum of History and National Waterfront Museum.

 

·       Management of retail spaces which are rented out to third parties at National Waterfront Museum

 

·       Commercial filming projects across the whole portfolio of Museums including the Collections Centre.

 

·       New commercial projects including, pop up shops, CoedLan and virtual reality experience amongst others.

 

·       Catering facilities managed internally at National Slate Museum, Big Pit National Coal Museum and National Wool Museum

 

What you’ll do…

·       Assist the Commercial Hire Team to deliver a premium client experience

·       Offer excellent standards of service via venue hire delivery across either National Museum Cardiff, National Waterfront Museum Swansea, or St National Museum of History

·       Provide a high level of customer service for our guests by providing information and wayfinding.

·       Assist with build and de-rig duties such as table setup, venue dressing and moving furniture.

·       Ensure the health and safety of our visitors, staff and contractors

·       Ensure the security of our collections by overseeing galleries and re-erected buildings.

·       Escorting client organizers, contractors and liaison with catering teams

·       Assist the team to the ensure the venue is kept clean and safe

·       Assist visitor flow and traffic management systems as necessary for guests, contractors, and event contributors.

·       Collate visitor feedback and encourage donations as instructed

·       You’ll contribute to successful and engaging public and private venue hire bookings of the highest standard

·       You’ll help the team deliver events to generate income that supports the work of Amgueddfa Cymru

·       You’ll assist to deliver creative and innovative hire events at our museums.

·       You’ll ensure guests, contractors and contributors have a fun and enjoyable experience.

·       You’ll welcome, assist and support our guests, contractors and contributors to ensure their safety and welfare.

·       You’ll provide a security presence to safeguard our guests, collections and museum property.

The knowledge and qualifications you’ll need…

·       The ability to speak fluently in Welsh e.g. the ability to answer visitor enquiries and provide information in Welsh is highly desirable.

·       The ability to speak other community languages is also desirable.

·       A full driving license is desirable.

·       Computer literacy, including ability to use and learn windows, databases and ticketing platforms as required

 

The experience you’ll need…

·       Experience of working or volunteering with people from different backgrounds and communities.

·       Experience in customer-facing roles such as venue hire, events, front of house, hospitality etc

·       Understanding or experience of Health & Safety e.g. First Aid, Manual Handling is desirable.

·       Previous experience of working in a museum or similar environment would be advantageous but not essential.

Terms & Conditions…

 

Starting salary

Grade B Pool Arrangement – £12.84 per hour

Probation

 

All new appointments are subject to the receipt of satisfactory references,

medical report and criminal conviction vetting clearance plus proof of

eligibility to work in the UK.
