The Role: Creative Supervisor – Finishing

Location: Cardiff Workshop

Salary: £32,000 – £37,000 dependant on experience

Working hours: 37.5 hours per week – 8am to 4:30pm, Monday to Friday

Contract: Full-time, permanent contract

About the Role

The Finishing Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the surface finish of high-quality products across a wide range of materials . This role ensures that all Finishing processes meet the highest standards by managing the teams, driving department development, and maintaining seamless coordination between design, production, and installation. The ideal candidate will have strong technical expertise, excellent leadership skills, and a commitment to safety and continuous improvement.

At Wild Creations we Design, Manufacture and Install Props & Scenery for the Entertainment, Marketing & Theme Park Industries.

Our 39,000 sq.ft facilities in the heart of Cardiff is home to a number of specialised departments, including Design, Project Management, Sculpting, Prop & Model Making, Moulding & Casting, Carpentry, Metalwork, Scenic Art, Finishing & Spray Shop and an Automation Shop that can accommodate 3D Scanning & Printing, Vac Forming, Laser Cutting and CNC Routing – both on flatbeds and on our 7-axis Kuka robot arm.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and coordinate the Finishing team across multiple creative projects.
  • Ensure top-quality surface finishes across a range of materials, techniques and styles.
  • Collaborate closely with fellow Creative Supervisors and the wider Production team to solve problems creatively and meet project goals.
  • Support the Creative Manager in planning, team movement and smooth project transitions.
  • Provide hands-on training, guidance and support to staff, promoting a culture of quality, safety, and innovation.
  • Contribute to department development by researching and implementing new materials, tools and methods.
  • Ensure all tools, materials and stock levels are well maintained and effectively managed.
  • Promote safe working practices, adhering to all Health & Safety protocols and company procedures.
  • Ensure that all design projects are delivered on time, within budget and to the highest quality standards.
  • Foster a collaborative and supportive team environment, promoting open communication, knowledge sharing and mutual respect across all levels of the design team.

The Ideal Candidate

We’re looking for someone with ambition, vision and experience to lead. The ideal candidate will be:

  • A confident leader with experience managing creative or technical teams.
  • Skilled in surface finishing techniques, with a keen eye for quality and detail.
  • A collaborative problem-solver who thrives in a dynamic workshop setting.
  • Organised, proactive, and committed to maintaining high standards in both output and workplace safety.
  • Passionate about creative production and willing to get hands-on when needed.
  • A detail-oriented, problem-solving approach, balancing creative and technical requirements.
  • Effective communication skills, with the ability to liaise across creative and technical teams.
  • Resilience under pressure, maintaining efficiency in fast-paced environments.
